Nature Trials
Drumlanrig has walks to cater for all users from our short all-ability trail around Druids Loch to Mount Malloch our longest way-marked walk. However armed with a map and compass (and the ability to use it), suitable clothing and footwear and possibly some lunch, a full day's walking can be enjoyed following the miles of paths and tracks that criss cross the Queensberry Estate, covering a large part of Dumfries & Galloway, in South Scotland. The Ranger Service can provide information on any land management activities which may prevent certain tracks being accessible (tree felling etc.) at times.
The waymarked walks at Drumlanrig will lead through a variety of different habitat types and visit many different features both natural and manmade. You may experience the wide variety of wildlife to be found at Drumlanrig while following the routes, with a good chance of spotting the ever popular Red Squirrel (Scurius vulgaris).
The way-marked walks follow a network of paths and tracks amounting to 80 miles, originally laid out in the early 19th Century. These routes were constructed, with their ornate bridges and summer houses, to enable people to enjoy the newly landscaped woods and parkland. More importantly at the time, the construction provided employment in a period of depression.

Kirkland Walk
The Walk is incorporated in the overall Kirkconnel Paths Project. It passes through the site of the old Kirkconnel village and the old Kirk. Until now nothing has been done to promote an awareness of the history and the scenery that is specific to our village.
